Arrive in Budapest, the sophisticated capital of Hungary. Private transfer to your hotel. Time to explore this beautiful city on your own. Day 2Saturday – Budapest
Morning optional Shabbat services at the Dohany Street Synagogue. This afternoon, join the group for an orientation walking tour of the majestic capital of Hungary. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore on your own. Walk across the beautiful bridges spanning the Danube or stop in a local shop for some souvenirs. Day 3Sunday – Budapest
This morning, explore Buda and Pest in this elegant city with its wealth of historic monuments linked by eight graceful bridges. Drive via Heroes Square, the Castle District and Fishermen’s Bastion with its glorious view of the Danube. Afternoon visit to the Dohany Street Synagogue, built in 1859; it is the largest in Europe and has been magnificently restored. Continue to the Jewish Museum with its wealth of artifacts and documents relating to Jewish life in Hungary. Stop at the unique “Weeping Willow” Holocaust Memorial, dedicated to the 500,000 Jews who perished during the Nazi reign of terror. Then continue on to the Raoul Wallenberg Monument, built in honor of the Swedish diplomat who saved thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. Tonight enjoy a boat cruise on the Danube River. See Budapest’s most beautiful monuments aglow at night. (B.)
Day 4Monday – Budapest – Prague
Depart on your short morning flight to Prague ( OK 787 BUD-PRG 8:55AM – 10:15AM ). Arrive in golden Prague, resting on the banks of the Vltava River, the main artery of the Bohemian waterways; meeting, assistance, and transfer to your hotel. Time to rest, relax and unpack before your sightseeing program. Your afternoon panoramic city tour includes views of the State Opera, Wenceslas Square, the National Museum, and Charles Bridge. Continue to Prague Castle and walk across the castle courtyards to see St. Vitus Cathedral. Continue by bus across the Vltava River to be dropped off at the Old Town, where you will continue on a walking tour of this pedestrian area. See the Old Town Hall and the amazing astronomical clock. Day 5Tuesday – Prague
Morning guided Jewish interest walking tour features a visit to the Jewish Museum complex, home of the Precious Legacy, including the 13th century Alt-Neu Synagogue and the Pinkas, Klaus and Maisel synagogues. Then, walk to the Jewish Cemetery, which dates back to the 15th century. Continue to the 16th century Jewish Town Hall with its distinctive tower and clock with Hebrew letters. Afternoon at leisure. Day 6Wednesday – Prague
Full day at leisure to enjoy this beautiful city, or depart this morning on an optional (not included in the price) pilgrimage to Terezin, former “model” concentration camp. Visit the Small Fortress, Museum, and the Jewish Cemetery with its impressive Menorah Sculpture surrounded by symbolic, nameless graves. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Day 7Thursday – Prague – Dresden – Berlin

Day 8Friday – Berlin
“The Jewish Life in Berlin” half-day tour covers all the major sites and buildings associated with the community in its heyday in the 18th and 19th centuries. View the New Synagogue, the New Jewish Museum, the memorial “Murdered Jews of Europe,” former site of the Old Synagogue, and much more… The remainder of the day is at leisure. (B.)
Day 9Saturday – Berlin
Morning half-day tour includes views of the Memorial Church, the KaDeWe department store, former Checkpoint Charlie, the Brandenburg Gate, remains of the Berlin Wall and the Reichstag (Parliament). See the House of the Wannsee Conference. The conference concerned itself with the implementation of the “Final Solution”, the decision to deport the Jewish population of Eastern Europe to the East and murder them. Also see the Grunewald Memorial, erected by the train station which was one of the major sites of deportation of the Jewish population to the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Terezin.
